May 19 : Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya today said the ministry has sounded an alert in the city in view of possible infiltration of LTTE cadres in the aftermath of the end of LTTE's struggle in Sri Lanka.
Talking to reporters here, Dr Acharya said a meeting
of Home Ministry officials was held under the instruction of Chief Minister to discuss about precautionery measures to be taken to curb any infiltration into the city.
Stating that in the past the city had been used by LTTE men for taking shelter, he said this time it was less likely that they would infiltrate as their strurggle had ended with the death of their leader V Prabhakaran.
The police was on alert and would maintain close vigil on hospitals, he said, adding the government would provide treatment to the injured LTTE men if it came across such people on humanitarian ground and inform the Centre on that.
He assured that the government would bring Anti-Piracy Act under the purview of Goonda Act with a suitable amendment.
