Bandh in protest against murder of TMC worker

May 19 : A 12-hour bandh in the Mathabhanga sub-division called jointly by Trinamool Congress and the Congress in protest against death of an AITC worker on Sunday passed off peacefully today.

Hafizul Miya, 33, said to be an AITC supporter, was killed in a clash with the CPI(M) at Ghokshadanga under Ghokshadanga police station.

Trinamool Congress district president Rabindranath Ghosh and his Congress counterpart Biren Kundu said, " We want quick arrest of the offenders otherwise the Ghokshadanga police station would be gheraoed very soon''.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M)'s district committee also sent a deputation to the District Magistrate urging him to bring to an end such type of violence across the district.

Superintendent of Police Devendra Prakash Singh said, ''Investigation has started as per the case has been filed and the accused will be in the custody very soon''.
